Nishiki Ten-Speed Conversion

Nishiki Ten-Speed Conversion

This is my main source of transportation, an old Nishiki ten-speed that I picked up for twenty bucks at a local thrift store. From the late seventies/early eighties, or at least that's what a random cyclist I chatted with told me. It did time as a single-speed for a few months but has been fixed for the last year.

Parts that I added:

El Toro bullhorns

Shimano SLR brake lever

Shorter SR stem - from my junkpile

Sakae pedals and toe clips/straps

Homemade leather handlebar bag and tool-bag under the saddle

Brooks B-17 green saddle rear rack - also from the junkpile

Specialized Armadillo tires - bulletproof, not a single flat yet

Surly New fixed/fixed rear hub

Generic track cog and lockring

Zefal plastic fenders - for the occasional Texas rainstorm
