1972 Gitane TdF (49/16): Elégance Français

1972 Gitane TdF (49/16): Elégance Français

I discovered this frame from a vendor specializing in french-only vintage bikes. This specific series of TdF bikes Gitane produced employed no braze-on cable guides, with 120mm rear hub spacing. Perfect fodder for a vintage conversion. The paint is absolutely original, with some touch ups and new decal treatments. Crank is a vintage Stronglight 106, wheelset is vintage Campy Record (laced to polished Sun M13 rims), stem and bars are vintage Atax (French), seat & post are Origin8. Photos shown are from my Mt. Hamilton Century (San Antonio Valley Rd) and from Mt. Diablo (Juniper Lookout point). The bike handles superbly, to the point of my logging 1,500 miles of riding it since finishing the build last February.
